Richard Spencer, owner of Berkeley Plastering, has been licensed as in the State of California as a General and Plastering Contractor since 1986. Richard grew up in Ireland and became exposed to the building trades at a young age. After an early apprenticeship in the plastering trade, Richard studied business at University College Cork and graduated in 1972. After a brief corporate career, he struck out for California. Upon seeing the prevalence and great variety of stucco in Califonia architecture, Richard opted for his original calling and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. 25 years later, Richard has accumulated a wealth of experience in his chosen field and also in related trades. Richard's reputation for quality in even the most demanding situations makes him the first choice with architects and property owners in the Bay Area. The scope of his achievements includes historic restoration of iconic Maybeck classics, Pantages Theater ceiling and exterior at the old Tribune Press Building in Oakland, as well as a host of contemporary integral color finishes such as Venetian Plaster. Richard is especially well regarded for his plaster repair and stucco textures. As a general contractor, Richard also specializes in the waterproofing and facade renovations of older stucco buildings, leak analysis, window installation, and structural and stucco repair as a specialty.
